Blogging for Beginners

“Blog” is an abbreviated version of “weblog,” which is a term used to describe web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog is a frequently updated, personal website featuring diary-type commentary and links to articles on other Web sites.

Generally speaking (although there are exceptions), blogs tend to have a few things in common:

  • A main content area with articles listed chronologically, newest on top. Often, the articles are organized into categories.
  • An archive of older articles.
  • A way for people to leave comments about the articles.
  • A list of links to other related sites.
  • One or more feeds like RSS, Atom or RDF files.

How do I add a comment?

Any reader of Aaron’s Blog can add a comment by clicking on the comment link at the bottom of the post. If your comment is not necessarily related to a specific post, then it is probably best to attach it to the most recent post. If comments have already been added for that post then the link will be something like “6 comments”. Clicking on this list will display all of the comments for that particular post and also allow you to add your own comment.

How do I view ALL of the recent comments regardless of which post they were added to?

For now the best way to do that is to click on the “Comments” link in the upper, righthand corner directly above the SEARCH box. This link will display the 100 most recent comments regardless of which post they are tied to.

How do I add a POST?

Sorry, but only designated users have been granted the ability to add posts.
