Saturdays Yard Sale

Thanks to everybody who stopped by yesterday’s yard sale!  As always, it was a success!  Thank you to my family for organizing it, those who donated any items and of course those who purchased them!  Your support is very much appreciated.

Conewago Walk Raffle Winners!

Hello Everyone!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Aaron’s Journey Walk this year at the Conewago Trail. It was a great day with beautiful weather and a nice mix of family, friends, and a few people who just happened to be hiking the trail that day.

Posted below is a listing of our raffle prize winners. To claim your prize, please email me at ajnbenz@hotmail.com. We have three pick up locations – Elizabethtown, Middletown, and Mount Joy. Please let me know which of these three locations work best for you and what times you would be able to pick up your prize. Prizes not claimed within 10 days will have a second winner drawn. If the second winner does not claim the prize within 10 days then the item will be donated back to Aaron’s Journey for future fundraisers.

Thank you so much to all of our raffle items donors, walkers, sponsors, and event volunteers. Without your generous support this event would not have been so successful.

Today’s Fundraiser

Thank you to everybody who attended today’s fundraiser and/or helped in any way!  I’m so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life.  Words couldn’t begin to describe how appreciative I am.  A special thank you to my sister and Jackie, and anybody else I might not be aware of, that orchestrated and planned this whole thing!

October 16th sounds like a great day to take a walk or a run or a ride!

Greetings All,

It is hard to believe that over a year has passed since Aaron’s accident on 8/18/09. Last year’s Conewago Trail Fundraiser was a big success…despite the rain! Before Aaron’s accident he and I would ride our bikes to the 5 mile marker and back. Sometimes Gina would join us and walk part of the trail. The trail has a level grade and the Conewago Creek runs parallel for part of the trail. It is a beautiful place to both exercise and relax. On Saturday, October 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., come join us as we ride, walk, & run the trail to raise funds for Aaron’s Journey. Proceeds from Aaron’s Journey fundraisers help to defray the cost/expenses that Aaron’s insurance denies or doesn’t cover. Here are a few examples to give you an idea of some recent uncovered expenses:

RTI 300 electrical stim bike – Allows Aaron to ride stationary bike (arm & legs) with help from electrical stimulation. This has many health benefits like improved circulation, cardiovascular, improved bone density and muscle mass. Denied by insurance. Cost – $20,500

Accommodations for two week trip to ICSCI in Baltimore – Cost – $2000 (3 – 4 times per year)

4AP – This medication was just approved by the FDA in January of 2010 and could help improve the ability of messages to reconnect between the brain and muscle groups that have been interrupted by a spinal cord injury. It has been tested & approved for MS patients. It is approved to be used in SCI patients as well but insurance does not recognize it as yet. Cost – $1000 (per month)

His physician at Kennedy just prescribed a stander for Aaron which we believe will cost approximately $4000. We do not expect that insurance will pay for this either, but we will submit it anyway.

We have been blessed by the friends and family that have reached out and supported Aaron’s Journey over the past 14 months. We hope that you will come out and join us on Saturday, October 16th. For more info or to print out a sponsor sheet see the link on the right hand side of this page.

As always, thanks for the love, prayers & support!

Aaron & family.

October 5, 6, and 7, 2010 – Kennedy Krieger

Sorry that there were no videos for October 5 and 6.  We forgot the memory card for the good camera on the fifth and the quality from the smaller camera wasn’t that great.  I had a lot of neck pain on the sixth and actually ended up going home around 2:30 PM or so.  I felt a lot better today though, so here are some videos!
